Location details
The study areas include dunes, beaches, a sea wall and built environments. The activities generally commence from Wanda. Students conduct fieldwork activities at points along the access pathways and on the beach.
Sturdy footwear is recommended. Please encourage students to carry wind/rain proof jackets. Please encourage sun safety practices. Students are in close proximity to the water at times during the day. There will be no swimming.
The greatest potential risks to students are exposure to sun, large and unexpected waves and sharps on the beach. The site is very popular for dog walkers, so students will likely encounter dogs.
It is important that students stay in view of teachers and within any specified boundaries. Vigilance is required from all participants.
The group is very likely to encounter members of the public. Supervising teachers need to be aware of where students are at all times. Child protection measures and supervision will be required when students access public toilets.
Once your booking is confirmed, we will email you a draft risk assessment and management plan to use in the preparation of your own plan. This plan details risks on excursion and controls to minimise them on the day.
