Location details
Please refer to location details about Jibbon, all of which is relevant to this excursion/site.
The walk to Shelley Beach is relatively short but can be a strenuous. The first 700 m is across a beach and can be tiring walking on dry sand when the tide is high. Then the walk takes you about 400 m up and down over the headland. There is an option to walk further and visit the rock engravings on Jibbon Headland.
There are some additional risks due to accessing the rock platform at Shelley Beach. The greatest potential risks to students are large and unexpected waves. Blue-ringed octopus may occur in rock pools.
It is important that students stay in view of teachers and within any specified boundaries. Vigilance is required from all participants.
Once your booking is confirmed, we will email you a draft risk assessment and management plan to use in the preparation of your own plan. This plan details risks on excursion and controls to minimise them on the day.
