Getting here

Schools accessing the park from the north or via Heathcote Road will access Wattamolla via the Farnell Avenue, Loftus entry to the Royal National Park. Schools from the south may prefer to access via the Waterfall entry. Wattamolla is approximately 16 km (30 minutes) from the Farnell Avenue entry and 20 km (35 minutes) from the Waterfall entry:

  • enter the Royal National Park at Farnell Ave (Loftus) or McKell Ave (Waterfall)
  • turn into Wattamolla Rd from Sir Bertram Stevens Drive
  • drive until the road ends in a carpark at the picnic area
  • disembark students at the bus drop off bay

There is bus parking available.

Buses do not need to pay at the toll booth. Show the Visitor Services Officer your Booking Confirmation. Student park use fees will be charged by National Parks following the excursion.

Bushwalk

There are three main bushwalks from Wattamolla. Your Booking Confirmation provides details about the walk for your excursion.

Loop track around Providential Headland

  • 2.5 km loop walk takes in stunning cliff top views and an amazing lookout at Providential Point
  • most of the track is along raised platform, with some sloped sections and sandstone steps
  • usually includes a short side trek further south to a viewing platform, looking south over Curracurrang Cove

Walk to clifftops looking south over Curracurrang

  • 3.5 km walk, including Providential loop track
  • continues further south from the loop track, descending about 80 m to an expansive sandstone platform
  • along raised platforms, steps and bare rock

Walk to Curracurrang Cove

  • 5-6 km walk, depending on if loop walk is included
  • continues even further south along the Coast Track and descends approximately 100 m further to sea level at Curracurrang
  • return walk to Wattamolla includes steep uphill climbs
